Fox uses Treo to break plane crash news-- Media Technology --

A Fox News cameraman was about 20 blocks away when the New York small-plane crash occurred last week, so he broadcast live via his Palm Treo smart-phone. (Thanks to Jamey for the link.)

Oddly, this is a return to the past. In the early days of CNN, the network was famous for letting anyone be a reporter. The first people on the scene were put on air. If it was a professional camera rig, great! Otherwise, they made do with the old video camera the college student had with her. If need be, they made do with payphone call-ins.

Footage was often shown raw. History comes back.
